My name is Hannah Jean Mabry. I’m a senior at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. I’m double-majoring in Spanish and Communications.
My academic background intertwines conveniently with my past and present employment opportunities. For example, I was the Social Media & Branding intern for the Tarleton Honors College. In this roll, I created graphics, promotional material such as flyers and videos, and wrote stories about students. This position showed me my love for media, specifically media with a purpose: to promote an organization. Since them I have taken multiple technical writing classes that centered on Adobe Products like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and InDesign.
I am now the youth intern at my church where I continue to make graphics and promotional material. I also get to pair those skills for an organization that I am very passionate about.
I have been able to use Spanish in many ways, especially travel. I have spent time in Peru, Mexico, and Spain, as well as Germany and Amsterdam, where interestingly enough, I had opportunities to speak Spanish. I have finished my Spanish degree and am practicing with fellow Spanish speakers.
The work that I am doing in Writing for Electronic Mediums has developed my critical thinking skills through the Best Media Writing assignments each week. It has also taught me how to work with others through the wireframe project. Finally, it has challenge me to make my current blog and social media accounts more professional to prepare myself for the future.
God has given me a love for writing and media, and I want to use that to the best of my ability to glorify Him. I humbly pray that as you read these posts you’ll be able to apply them to your life and perhaps gain a understanding of God’s loving and powerful word. Please comment and share to let me know what you think.
